Mental Disorderly Conduct

Arrested for tampering with the bottles again,
taken away in bed straps and gagged.
Sedated sleepwalker, nobody to talker;
an hysterical roundabout runaway train.

They put me in prison with newspaper walls,
graffiti headlines, splinter-nailed scrawls…
called it a hospital,
called it my job,
called it my family,
called it my god,
called it my sanity;

…sentenced to life, confined to solitary.

So, now who’s the stupid one?
I’m up against the firing squad.
Right now who’s the useless one?
Captive conned myself in two.

Screaming my innocence but guilty as hell.
a fish in a glass tank, a rat trapped in a cell.

I will break free,
someday – you’ll see.

Jailbird, I’ll fly free.
